Facilitated Discussions

AI student: Peer conversation with a facilitator that keeps it moving.

Discussions are shared classroom rooms attached to a lesson, with an AI facilitator that watches the cadence, threads replies, and posts a running summary for anyone joining late.

What it is

A discussion is one room per lesson for the whole class: threaded replies, likes, and a facilitator that contributes on a teacher-set cadence — asking the probing question, connecting two posts, or nudging a stalled thread.

A continuously-updated summary sits at the top, so the tenth person to arrive can catch up without reading ninety posts.

Why — the pedagogical rationale

Explaining to peers and encountering viewpoints that contradict your own are two of the strongest learning levers we have — but unmoderated threads drift, die, or get dominated. The facilitator exists to keep the conversation at that productive level without a human moderator watching every room.

The summary serves the late joiner: social learning should not punish people for having a schedule.

How we achieve it

The facilitator runs on a cadence count of new posts, draws on the lesson’s RAG context, and posts as a distinct author you can always tell apart. Summaries regenerate as the thread grows. Your own posts are part of your learning memory, searchable alongside everything else you touched.

Where to find it

Any lesson with a discussion item opens the room underneath the content. Jump in — the facilitator will find you.
