AI student: Reading with questions woven into the pages.
Some lessons hand you a PDF that talks back: questions sit next to the exact passages they test, you answer as you read, and finishing them all is how you finish the lesson.
What it is
Your teacher takes a document — a paper, a chapter, a case study — and anchors questions to it: multiple choice, true/false, or short answer. Each question is pinned to the page (and usually the exact passage) it tests, highlighted right where it belongs.
Questions live in a rail beside the document — a tab away on your phone. Answer one and you get immediate feedback: whether you were right, and why. If your teacher marked a question as required, you keep trying until you actually get it — guessing your way past it is not an option.
Why — the pedagogical rationale
Reading feels productive even when nothing sticks — the illusion of fluency. A question placed next to the passage it tests interrupts that drift: it makes you retrieve the idea right where you met it, which is one of the most reliable ways to make it stick.
The anchor also tells you where to look again. When you miss a question, you do not shrug and move on — the highlighted passage is right there, so checking yourself takes seconds instead of willpower.
How we achieve it
The PDF renders with a real text layer, so passages are selectable — your teacher anchored questions to the very sentences you read, and the highlights show you where. Grading happens on the server: the correct answers never sit in your browser, and the explanation appears only after you have committed to an answer.
The lesson completes only when every question is answered — and the required ones answered correctly. That checkpoint is enforced twice: the complete button stays locked until you are done, and the server re-checks the rule when the completion lands.
Where to find it
In any course where your teacher added an Active PDF lesson: the document opens with its question rail beside it — on your phone, the PDF and the questions are one tap apart.
